Why P2P Collaboration is Better

Server-based collaboration tools like Google Docs use Operational Transformation (OT) — a technique that requires a central server to coordinate edits. This works well but means the server sees every keystroke.

MiOffice Notes uses CRDTs (Conflict-free Replicated Data Types) instead. CRDTs are a mathematical approach to distributed state that does not need a central coordinator. Each peer maintains its own copy, and CRDTs guarantee convergence — every peer reaches the same final state regardless of edit order or network delays.
